Emiliano Sala plane crash: Footballer was 'let down' by Cardiff
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47406109
Says Sala's agent's dad.

Nothing to do with the money his son won't be getting then??

Looks like these hookey "charter flights" are in for trouble.

That could work if it was an independent not for profit service that was optional.

It would probably help the vast majority of players from a fair few clubs in the championship, league one and below

Agents are employed by players and their payments should come out of the players share of any deal and be paid by them.
No agent should be paid directly by a club.
Easy rule for FIFA to implement
Any payment by a club to an agent should result in a £10m fine and relegation

Cartis: your suggestion would probably breach restraint of trade legislation. Being "represented" by part of the FA would restrict the bargaining power of a player when it comes to his own future salary and his percentage of any transfer fee. That may sound OK for millionaire footballers who have too much money anyway, but in employment matters generally the law allows a free market, and I cannot see an exception being made for footballers.

Exactly.

I can't understand why every Football Association world wide doesn't set up a type of conveyancing service to deal with transfers and players were only allowed to be represented by the relevant FA department.

Drive these leeches out of the game for good and keep literally hundreds of millions of pounds in the game and put it to use where it is needed grass roots etc, not lining the pockets of agents who give the game nothing.

Agents earn millions because most players are naive and not really prepared for finance matters when they leave school.

So these leeches step in and more or less end up with a job for life for doing no more than a solicitor would be able to comfortably arrange.

I've often thought that.

Fucking scourge of the games agents every last one of them .

Earn Millions for doing basically fuck all.

It looks like this bloke David Henderson, who was supposed to be the pilot but was replaced by Mr Ibbotson, has some questions to answer.

Honest question - how do these people become football agents and why are clubs paying them millions?

If it's irresponsible to fly without asking the pilot if he's got a licence, then it must also be irresponsible to believe his answer.

The kind of character ready to fly without a licence is also likely to lie about having a licence.

Nothing for it but insisting he put on a one-man airshow to demonstrate his competence before you get on board

" it’s fair to assume that the pilot flying you is qualified to do so."

And so we are here.

One very dead footballer, two very alive and wealthy agents and a functioning football club.

I expect all 4 assumed that the pilot was qualified - only one of them actually took on the risk.

Am I expected to ask to see the C2C train drivers licence every time I go to work? Course I’m fucking not. This is no different.

Absurd and ridiculous to claim otherwise.

That’s harsh.

Like most people here I couldn’t count the number of times I’ve been on a plane, but I can count the number of times I’ve asked to see the pilot’s licence.

It’s zero if you’re wondering.

I’m all for personal responsibility, but I think it’s fair to assume that the pilot flying you is qualified to do so.

He also had a hand in plenty of the very good deals Redknapp did. His son Mark brokered the deal that brought Diop here last summer and Payet before then. Like it or not, agents are part of the game.

Without knowing all the details it is very difficult to establish where responsibility ultimately lies, but it's pretty clear to me that some people are conflating their perception of the industry (which has a very poor reputation) with what happened to Emiliano Sala.

I know Mark and he's a good bloke. Watching his interview was hard because it's clear he's suffering massively. He was keen to point out he's not the victim here but he's taking a lot of criticism from people who think that an agent offering little value and taking a £1.5m slice of a deal is perverse. To some extent I'm inclined to agree, but that doesn't make him responsible for the bloke's death.

This pilot who didn’t have a licence to carry paying passengers... I’m guessing the McKays had used him before?
Anyone who isn’t licenced is probably likely to also to be up for providing an inflated invoice for dodgy agents looking to get their ‘costs’ reimbursed by the club.

On the ball - very much like Allardyce and his favour of one agent.

The whole things stinks.

In this case the Mackays are desperately trying to divert attention away from them. The problem is that Cardiff have clearly stated that they were arranging a commercial flight for Sala but it was cancelled .

Yes one looks like a classy small plane fit for a wealthy person it is quite roomy and plush, and one looks like something made out of leggo and has just about enough space to fit the pilot and a duck.

I am not joking I have intelligence up to a point and I have heard the song leaving on a jet plane many times but to I have no concept of small plain jet plain etc, which is I guess to you ridiculous, and when I think of it you are correct to think that.

A single engined turboprop wouldn’t even get you off the ground hairy you fat cunt

Assuming that you are not taking the piss, a jet is a term for a jet engined aircraft, this specific aircraft was powered by a single propeller - just like a Spitfire, a spinning howsyourfather on it's nose
They fly optimally at different altitudes, as said, a jet would have been above the weather system that most likley caused the problems for the prop'
Just Google Sala airplane, then Ronaldo airplane - I think you will notice a stark difference between the two small aircraft
